HOMOSEXUAL - ĐỒNG TÍNH
Vietnam Queer History Month (VQHM) is a series of activities to raise awareness for the young queers in Hanoi and the society, about the presence of the LGBT community in Vietnamese history. Queer’s love and life along the stretch of history will be reproduced in various forms such as exhibitions, workshops and online media. The knowledge and the presence of queer community will help to reinforce the pride of Queer identity, as well as being the persuasive reasons for the recognition of queer community.
By bringing you a various range of activities from exhibition and talk show, Vietnam Queer History Month 2019 is a journey into the history of language: from the practice of language, reclaiming the cultural spaces of our own to reaffirming our identity and therefore, restating our stand in society. We hope that through all of that, you get a better insight of such a community with its own rich and prideful history.
The work "Đồng tính" (Homosexual) illustrates the perspective of queers being judged by the standards of Vietnamese society as they wish to explore and express themselves yet are harnessed by Heterosexuals that see being different as unacceptable - the black mud of disgust.
